Megadeth is an American heavy metal band from California. It was formed in 1983 by former Metallica lead guitarist, Dave Mustaine, who is the band’s frontman and rhythm guitarist.
Why Their Songs Rock
- Their songs are fast paced and fun to listen to.
- Similarly to Metallica, their songs can be about numerous different subject matters.
- Just like Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Testament and Overkill, their music was very influential in making the genre of thrash metal, which in turn, influenced grunge.
- They also paid tribute to the heavy metal and punk rock bands that influenced them, much like the other bands listed above.
- After 12 past nominations, the band finally won a Grammy in 2017.
- Since the 2010s, all the lineup changes have been suggested by the members themselves.
- Loudwire ranked Dave Mustaine number 10 on their best guitarists of all time list.
- The late Nick Menza was an awesome drummer.
Bad Qualities
- Their albums Risk and Super Collider weren't that good, with the former being featured on Regretting The Past by Rocked.
- The group has drawn controversy for its music and lyrics, including album bans and canceled concerts.
- MTV refused to play two of the band's music videos that the network considered to condone suicide.
- When Dave Mustaine converted to Christianity, he decided that the band would never perform certain songs live ever again. This caused a lot of controversy.
- On May 10th, 2021, sexually explicit videos of Ellefson were posted on Twitter. The videos, recorded in 2020 by a fan that Ellefson was in correspondence with, initially led to accusations of child grooming. However, Ellefson and the other party both denied the accusations and claimed that it was consensual adult conduct. An official statement released the next day from Megadeth stated that the situation was being "watched closely". This eventually caused Megadeth to parts ways with Ellefson again.
- Dave Mustaine's vocals are very hit or miss.
